The Skylon Tower is Niagara Falls’ iconic observation tower, part of the Canadian skyline since October 6, 1965. The concrete shaft rises about 520 feet (160 m) above street level. Because it stands on the high ground above the gorge, the top of the tower is roughly 775 feet (236 m) above the base of the Falls.
That height is what makes the Skylon Tower different. At ground level you see one waterfall at a time. From the deck you see the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls together, plus the Niagara River bending through the gorge.
On a clear day the view reaches about 80 miles (125 km). Visitors can pick out the Toronto skyline across Lake Ontario to the north and Buffalo, New York, to the south.
Airlink Tours sells the Skylon Tower as an add-on to your Niagara Falls tour. Your guide arranges the ticket, so you simply ride up and enjoy the view.
The Skylon Tower is open every day of the year, including holidays.

Our favourite slot. Sunlight comes from the west behind you, which is when rainbows often appear in the mist. Stay a little longer and watch the Falls change colour as the lights come on.
The Falls are lit every night of the year, and from the tower you see the coloured lights across all three falls at once. See the Niagara Falls illumination & fireworks schedule.
The deck is one of the best places to watch the Niagara Falls fireworks: nightly at 10 p.m. in summer and 8 p.m. in the winter season. No reservation needed for the deck.
The indoor deck is heated. Frozen mist and ice on the gorge look amazing from above, and you skip the cold, wet viewpoints at street level.
Avoid: summer weekends between noon and 4 p.m. if you dislike crowds. Mornings are usually quieter.
Plan 45–60 minutes for the Observation Deck, including the elevator ride and both levels. Add 1.5–2 hours if you eat in the Revolving Dining Room, and about 30 minutes each for the 3D/4D movie or the Daredevil Barrel Museum.
Driving from Toronto means about 1.5–2 hours each way, plus parking fees and queues at every attraction. On an Airlink tour the Skylon Tower is already built into your day:
Boat cruise, Journey Behind the Falls, free time and scenic drive-bys, with pickup in Toronto.
Niagara City Cruise, Journey Behind the Falls and the Skylon Tower observation deck, with hotel pickup.
Afternoon departure to see the Falls lit up at night. The Skylon Tower is an optional add-on, and replaces the boat when the boat isn’t operating.

Book the Day Trip with Skylon Tower →5200 Robinson Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario, in the Fallsview district, a short walk uphill from Table Rock and Clifton Hill.
About 130 km by car via the QEW. Without a car, the easiest option is a guided Niagara Falls day tour from Toronto with hotel pickup.
Directly in front of the entrance, with a wheelchair-accessible ramp. Best for short visits. Seasonal rates: lower in winter, higher spring to fall and on holiday weekends.
Next to Lot A, for cars and buses. Metered when no attendant is on duty, allows overnight parking, and is not security-patrolled.
Many people search for a “Skylon Tower restaurant.” There are actually two:
Fine dining with an à la carte menu. The room turns a full 360 degrees every hour, so you see every angle of the Falls while you eat. A gluten-free menu is available on request, and the room is wheelchair accessible by ramp.
A family-friendly buffet. It does not revolve, but every seat is on the Falls side. It is seasonal, open for lunch and dinner from about late May to late October.
Both include free Observation Deck access, and reservations are strongly recommended. For fireworks nights, Skylon suggests dining around 8–8:30 p.m., then heading up to the deck for the 10 p.m. show.
The outdoor deck is often windy, even in summer. Hold on to hats and scarves.
The outdoor deck avoids window glare. At night, press your phone against the indoor glass to cut reflections.
From above, the cruise boats look tiny as they push into the Horseshoe Falls mist. They make a great sense-of-scale shot. See our Niagara boat cruise guide.
Arrive just before sunset to see the Falls in daylight, then watch the colours come on as the illumination starts. It is the highlight for most of our guests.
Check the weather: low cloud or heavy mist can hide the view. On a clear day you can see Toronto.
